About Sky Privat

I'm Nelson.

I started Sky Privat two years ago, and I drive every ride myself, from Zurich Airport to anywhere in Switzerland and across the border to Germany, Austria, Italy and France.

A note from Nelson

I was born in Portugal and moved to Switzerland in 2012. It has been home ever since.

I started Sky Privat (Sky is our dog's name, by the way) with a simple idea: a transfer should feel like being picked up by someone you know, not like being passed from a booking platform to a stranger. So it is small on purpose. Two cars, one chauffeur, and every booking goes through me.

I read your message, I follow your flight, and I am the one waiting at arrivals with your name. If your plans change, you are writing to the person who will be driving you.

I look after the cars the same way. Both are Mercedes with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, on winter tyres from October to April, and cleaned before every ride, with water and a phone charger on board.

I speak Portuguese, German, English and Spanish, so most guests can talk to me in their own language. Whatever brings you to Switzerland, I would like the drive to be the easy part.

Nelson's Switzerland

A few things I have learned living here and driving these roads, for when you plan your trip.

  1. All year

    Zermatt ends at Täsch

Zermatt is car-free, so the drive stops at the Matterhorn Terminal in Täsch. From there the shuttle train takes twelve minutes to the village.

    Zurich Airport to Zermatt
  2. All year

    Rhine Falls before the coaches

The falls are under an hour from Zurich. Arrive in the morning and you have the viewing platforms almost to yourself; by midday the tour buses are in.

Rhine Falls & Stein am Rhein
  3. Morning

    Titlis first, Lucerne after

Clouds tend to build over the mountains in the afternoon. Go up Titlis while the view is clear, then take the old town and the lake at an easy pace on the way back.

    Mount Titlis & Lucerne
  4. October to April

    Winter roads to the Engadin

The Julier pass stays open through the winter, and the cars are on winter tyres the whole season. With ski bags for four, take the SUV.

    Zurich Airport to St. Moritz
  5. June to October

    The high passes

Furka, Grimsel and Susten close with the first heavy snow and open again in early summer. When they are open and you are not in a hurry, the road over the top is the best drive in the country.
